Technology today has made it easier for consumers to decide who they do and don’t want to engage with. It’s getting harder and harder every day for a business to be able to engage with a prospect.
What’s happening today, as you already know, is most consumers. If they see your number pop up on their phone, they´re probably not gonna pick it up. If they see a number that they don’t recognize altogether, they’re probably not going to pick up. If they see a text message, typically, they could see the first couple of lines or so, and they decided right then and there, whether or not they’re even gonna open it. Email. It’s the same thing.
So how can a business these days create an engagement? Create communication that really gets a consumer to open it, look at it and read it? It’s very simple. You have to create a pattern interrupt. Here’s a perfect example.
If you can send a text message to your prospect, but instead of having the first few lines show up, it’s a video, then they’re gonna be a lot more curious as to what it is and it creates Interrupt in what they were doing makes them stop doing what they were doing and open up your text message or even open up your email to see what’s going on. So, a fantastic way to interrupt someone’s pattern and get them to open your communication is by sending a video.
Now there are multiple ways of doing this. One way of doing this is simply taking out your smartphone and recording a video of yourself, talking to the prospect and sending it through that, sending it to them through a text or through an email. But there’s also a lot of fantastic choices out there for software that will do this for you.
There are some out there or what you can do. And this is a great little technique. Get yourself a small whiteboard write on it “Hello” whatever the prospect name is. “Hello, Jim.” And then write a quick 4 – 5-word sentence afterward just saying “I want to just send you this video to say hello.” And some of these video software’s will take a snapshot of that or turn the first couple of seconds into an animated GIF so that when you send the text message or you send an email, that’s the first thing that they see is a picture of you with their names saying Hello on a whiteboard and it’s going to create curiosity and they’re gonna open the communication
From there, it’s up to you to craft effective messaging to get them to engage back with you.
